Straight & polygon cuts

Draw straight operations or close editable polygon regions with supported geometry.

English guideSource: Unity 6000.3.13f1 · Optional Jobs / BurstWeb edition · 21 October 2026

Draw a straight cut#

Choose Straight Cut, then press and drag from a start point to an end point across the sprite. Each drag adds a straight authoring operation across the relevant geometry. Add more operations to build the desired layout.

The supplied straight-cut capture shows the authored operation and fragment rows together.

Enable Cut selected part only when the next authored cut should target the selected piece. This option is part of the manual authoring workflow, separate from runtime stroke budgets.

Draw a polygon region#

  1. Choose Polygon Cut.
  2. Click to place at least three vertices.
  3. Inspect the edges and drag vertex handles to adjust the draft.
  4. Click Close polygon to validate and commit, or Cancel polygon to discard the draft.
  5. Generate and inspect the resulting fragments and colliders.

The handles belong to an editable polygon draft. Close it before saving the authored result.

Self-intersecting or zero-area outlines are rejected with a status message. If validation fails, remove crossing, touching, duplicate-adjacent or collinear points and inspect the outline again.

Understand the region result#

The geometry inside a committed region becomes a separate logical fragment. The surrounding geometry remains as the remainder.

Concave polygons are supported in manual authoring and may be decomposed into convex mesh/collider pieces. A polygon completely inside the sprite leaves a hole in the remainder collider. Disconnected remainder islands may stay grouped as one logical fragment.

These authoring capabilities do not expand the source shapes supported by Runtime Slice.
