Core parallax works without URP. Choose the lighting path for the presentation you need, then author actual 2D lights/shadows when using the optional bridge.
Choose a lighting mode#
| Mode / field | Use |
|---|---|
| Basic Tint | Disable ray support. Enable separate Environment Colours for layer/sky tint; Lighting alone does not tint sprites. |
| Lightweight | Supply Sun/Moon intensity data for rays without requiring URP Light2D/shadows. |
| URP2D | Send color, intensity and direction to a configured Output bridge with authored Light2D components. |
| Sun / Moon Color | Output light colors; visible celestial sprites have separate colors. |
| Sunlight / Moonlight Intensity | Base values multiplied by daylight curves. Guide example: one and 0.25. |
| Manual Lighting / Daylight | Use manual zero-to-one daylight; time-based Direction still follows the clock. |
| Intensity curves / Direction Offset | Curve X is daylight, not time. Offset adds degrees to daily direction. |
Optional URP 17 integration#
- Install URP 17.x and configure a 2D Renderer on active Graphics/Quality pipeline assets.
- Choose Lighting > Enable URP 17 Bridge. It creates the active bridge assembly from the included
.asmdef.txttemplate; wait for compilation. - Add
Parallax2DURPLightBridgeto an environment child. Assign authored Sun/Moon and optional Ambient Light2D components. - Assign the bridge to Lighting Output and select URP2D.
- Use Sprite-Lit-Default or compatible lit materials for sprites that should receive light. Supplied unlit materials do not respond.
- Author ShadowCaster2D shapes and assign bridge arrays; use CompositeShadowCaster2D groups when appropriate.
- Inspect affected sorting layers, shadow settings, light range and output at Hour 12/0.
Sprites and lights are separate#
Sun & Moon creates visible SpriteRenderers. Bridge Sun/Moon fields need Light2D, not those sprite references. Enabling the bridge assembly does not configure your pipeline renderer or author lights/caster geometry.
The guide's project used URP 17.3.0, and its bridge targets 17.x; no URP 18+ support claim is made. Before removing URP, remove bridge components and generated Integrations/URP/ERAGANX.Parallax2D.URP.asmdef, retaining the .txt template. No global ERAGANX_HAS_URP17 define is required by the documented workflow.
