Installation & setup

Prepare a compatible URP 2D project and find the package tools.

English guideSource: Unity 6000.3.13f1 · URP 17.3.011 October 2026

Prepare a compatible project, import the complete package and verify a simple reflection before adding effects or caches.

Prepare the project#

RequirementInspected setup and limits
Source targetUnity 6000.3.13f1 with Universal Render Pipeline 17.3.0. These identify the inspected versions.
PipelineURP with a 2D Renderer. The current capture backend does not support Built-in RP or HDRP.
CameraOrthographic Base camera facing +Z. No perspective, X/Y camera tilt, XR or camera stack.
Surface transformPositive, orthogonal XY scale. Z rotation is supported; negative scale, shear and X/Y tilt are not.
ShadersShader model 3 support. Retain bundled Resources materials and shader includes.
Your asmdefReference ERAGANX.WaterReflection2D. Add the Samples assembly only for sample-specific classes.
  1. Open a Unity 6 URP 2D project. Check the active URP asset in Project Settings > Graphics and Quality, and verify its renderer is a 2D Renderer.
  2. Import Runtime, Editor, Shaders, Resources, Presets and Samples intact. Wait for compilation and resolve Console errors.
  3. Open an official scene in Assets/ERAGANX/2D Water Reflection Pro/Samples/Scenes/.
  4. In a new project, use Rebuild Official Samples once when the bundled sample layer indices need remapping to available named layers.
  5. Keep your game scenes and modified presets outside bundled sample folders.

Before rebuilding: preserve custom copies of edited official scenes/prefabs. Rebuild recreates the bundled sample content. The package does not automatically install layers or rebuild samples on import.

Find the package tools#

Open Tools > ERAGANX > 2D Water Reflection.

CommandAction
Create Water ReflectionCreate/select a surface, connect an orthographic camera and ensure a manager exists.
Create Mirror ReflectionCreate a Mirror surface with full strength/opacity and horizontal orientation by default.
Open DocumentationOpen the English PDF in the system PDF application.
Reflection PresetsSelect Calm Lake; create missing built-ins while retaining existing assets.
Reflection Setup WizardChoose the source camera and optional clean mirror, then create a surface.
Validate Reflection SetupCheck configuration support, without proving visible rendering.
Install Demo LayersAdd the three named layers to free slots; existing sample objects are not remapped.
Organize Sample HierarchiesGroup official sample objects while preserving transforms, settings and references.
Rebuild Official SamplesRecreate ten bundled scenes/prefabs, install demo layers and remap sample objects.

Make a clear first test#

Use a stationary camera and one unlit sprite above the waterline. Start in Planar mode with Visual Effects off. Verify geometry before lights, camera follow, complex selection or caching. Test the actual target player before making platform or performance claims.
