Preview & validation

Test scenarios and understand what simulated preview verifies.

English guideSource: Unity 6000.3.13f120 October 2026

Preview simulates progress and scenarios without loading a real scene. Use it to inspect the presentation, then verify integration in Play Mode and on the target player.

Preview controls#

ControlUse
Restart simulation / PauseReplay or pause simulated time.
Progress / Reduced motionInspect a visual state or accessibility fallback.
Signal Game ReadySimulate the ready visual state.
Simulate failure / Recover to readyInspect failure and recovery presentation.
Safe menu outcomeSimulate without actually loading a menu.
Authoring references passedSource-data checks passed; no scene load or build profiling occurred.

Try Fast and Slow for entry/exit and hint readability. Then try Failure, Unknown Progress and Missing Media. Long-text stress does not rewrite the design's authored copy.

Scenario fields#

The scenario is saved in the design. Screenshot timings are examples.

FieldMeaning
Load Duration = 8Simulated work duration.
Fail At = -1No scheduled time-based failure in this example.
Checkpoint Delay = 0.5Simulated ready-checkpoint delay after load.
Signal Timeout = 10Simulated signal wait limit.
Long TextStress wrapping and bounds.
Missing MediaInspect fallback appearance.
Reduced MotionStatic/lower-motion presentation.
Unknown ProgressSimulate an unavailable fraction.
Export issue reportWrite a source-data authoring report.

What to verify in a player#

A clean report is useful evidence, but cannot prove native video decoding, scene activation, physical-device layout or performance. Real destination timing is independent of the Preview duration. Test an actual API/trigger request and profile representative target hardware.
