Advanced text & colors

Detailed row roles, fonts, gradient strength, custom colors and text tint.

English guideSource: Unity 6000.3.13f1 · Editor only13 October 2026

Open Advanced for precise text, gradient, icon and row-detail controls. Row edits apply immediately; named reusable-style drafts in Settings use a separate explicit-save workflow.

Open the detailed editor#

Choose Advanced in Settings or use the Quick arrow. The heading identifies the clicked object/selection. Headers and Subheaders select which reusable cards appear; Manage styles opens Settings.

Expand only the sections you need and scroll for child colors, counts, notes and group commands. Done or outside focus finishes editing with changes retained.

Text and presentation roles#

FieldBehavior
Row typeObject, Title or Subtitle presentation role. Text remains the actual object name.
Font sizeSmall, Normal or Emphasized. Configure numeric sizes in Settings; defaults use Unity's size.
Text alignLeft, Center or Right within available title space.
Bold / Italic / AAEmphasis and display-only uppercase. AA does not rename the object.
CountEnable direct child count; additional totals are in Counts & details.

Rows keep Unity's native fixed height. Indicators reduce name space; long names can clip and use tooltips. Subtitle is a role, not a second line.

Gradient and text colors#

Background is a horizontal color-to-dark gradient, independent of the text-color override.

SettingMeaning
BackgroundToggle fill; choosing a background color enables it.
Color and swatchesCustom color, ten swatches or recent history. Settings manages the configurable Quick palette.
Strength0–1 opacity: zero is invisible, one is strongest. Separate from darkening.
Darkening0.8–1. At 0.94, the far end uses about 6% of base RGB.
Text colorEnable or choose a color to activate; also applies to selected rows.
Recent colorsUp to eight remembered choices.
Color pickerSettings uses Unity's native picker; Advanced owns an HSV/Hex picker.

Keep rows readable#

Use stronger blue/green/purple Title fills and lower-strength Subtitles. Descendant backgrounds around 0.18–0.24 are a gentle starting point. Inspect selected, unselected and inactive rows at your normal width.

Keep pointer input within the owned picker while dragging. Done/Escape returns to Advanced; outside Editor focus finishes editing.

Settings' ten gradient presets feed Quick. Advanced and reusable-style draft swatches use the built-in palette; choose custom/recent colors there to match an exact configured Quick color.
