Reusable styles

Create, explicitly save and reapply named header/subheader recipes.

English guideSource: Unity 6000.3.13f1 · Editor only13 October 2026

Save named header/subheader recipes for repeated use. A Settings draft needs an explicit save before its card is available for application.

Create and save a style#

  1. Choose + Header or + Subheader in Appearance & Profiles, or start from a built-in style.
  2. Enter a unique Name. Set Type, Background, Strength, font choices, Child count and optional Accent border.
  3. Choose child-color scope, text color, tooltip and icon. Inspect Live preview; displayed preview counts are illustrative.
  4. Click Save style or Save custom copy, then open Advanced and apply the saved Headers/Subheaders card.

Save the draft: row edits apply immediately, but reusable-style drafts do not. Save before switching styles or closing Settings. Revert discards the draft. Renaming a reusable style does not rename GameObjects.

Factory and custom recipes#

Factory definitions provide Purple, Blue and Green headers/subheaders. They remain immutable; custom styles belong to the project and can be exported as individual preset JSON.

Action or styleBehavior
Factory headerTitle, bold, strong gradient and folder icon; All descendants background recipe at strength 0.18.
Factory subheaderSubtitle, bold, softer gradient 0.32, accent border and folder icon.
Save custom copyCreate your own preset from a factory style.
Save styleWrite a new custom style or update the selected custom preset.
DuplicateCreate a separately editable copy with an available name.
DeleteRemove a custom preset; disabled for factory styles.
RevertReload the selected saved style, discarding draft changes.
Save style in AdvancedPut the row's resolved style into a new Settings draft; name/save it there.

Apply and refresh assignments#

  1. Select intended objects and open Advanced.
  2. Choose Headers/Subheaders and click the card. Its complete snapshot applies immediately, including its stored child-color action.
  3. Adjust individual rows afterward, save the scene and inspect at normal Hierarchy width.

Changing or deleting a preset does not rewrite earlier assignments. Save changes and reapply the card to update them. Named cards live in Advanced, even when older footer wording calls them the Quick Panel.
