Start with one existing parent so you can see exactly which row changes. Styling does not create or rearrange the scene's groups.
Style one existing group#
- Select an existing parent such as CAMERAS on its own. Alt + left click the object row, avoiding the foldout arrow.
- Click H to apply the Title profile, then pick a gradient color. The row continues to display its actual GameObject name.
- Choose a camera/folder icon, then set Bold and alignment to make the group readable.
- Click outside to finish. Select a subgroup, use h for Subtitle and choose a softer color.
- Use the Quick arrow to open Advanced for child backgrounds, counts or detailed colors. Save your scene; Unity Undo reverses edits.
Check selection before editing#
When the clicked object is already selected, other selected editable GameObjects can become targets too. Select only one row for a single-object change. Check the panel heading before applying a profile, preset, paste or reset.
Apply the role before custom formatting#
H/h copies the corresponding global profile. Apply Title/Subtitle first, then make row-specific font, alignment, color and icon adjustments. Roles format the real name at Unity's native row height; Subtitle is not a second text line.
| Example group | Suggested starting style |
|---|---|
| CAMERAS | Blue Title, bold, left aligned, camera icon. |
| ENVIRONMENT | Green Title; later apply subtle descendant background colors. |
| Shapes / Display panels | Softer Subtitle or saved subheader with an appropriate folder icon. |
Finish and revisit#
Quick has no Apply button: every control click is an edit. Outside input or Escape closes the popup and retains changes. Reopen the row to continue and use Undo to restore an earlier result. Save both your scene identities and relevant project metadata.
